FREEDMAN-CASTEL
Hey,
Thats's me.
Yehudis Freedman

Back in Australia where I was brought up,
I was know as Yehudis Castel - since then I've married, Baruch Hashem, and my art has just grown and developed. My passion and hobby that my parents invested so much in, has taken me on paths I never thought I'd tread. I am so grateful to HKBH - and I'm loving every minute :)
It is a journey that is new to me at each stage. It has built up my confidence, unlocked a deep level of connection and giving, and I just love learning more! Developing my understanding and experimenting with different techniques and sharing my love of Torah and Yiddishkeit through my art strokes is awesome!
Welcome to the place where you will find the latest ins and outs about where I am on my art-based journey.

A little timeline...
Childhood
It all stated when I was back in Oz.
Just a young child, I was showered with encouragement- with words of potential. With the copious amounts of love by people that left a mark on me. I could succeed in whatever I would try to do!
The flexibility and creativity my home background and school gave me was one to enable uniqueness and growth.
My grandmothers words she all-so-often pleaded was- "you have art, so Dissie use it! Hash-m gave you this skill."
With her words my real journey began- my tafkid is to use the skill I have to connect with Hashem. Thank you Granny Zick!
Teenagehood
I'm actually a relative to famous artist Moshe Castel. I guess there was some kind of joke as I grew up that one day I'd have the same quality and popularity as this world renowned artist..but although a joke I took the message to heART. If family had inspired others through art -now it was my turn to inspire through art- in my own way.
Post School

2015
My first appearance in public with my art was through my art classes known as ''Artist in ME'' they were held in Australia, London and Israel. Well they followed me enroute to Yerushalayim where I am blessed to live now, and the classes are no past time!
Although I don't have a scheduled structure hosting my art classes, I've done one-on-ones, family holiday program and even day camp activities.
The lens of the class is always to bring out the artist/creativity and self confidence within a child. A message that is so crucial to our children today. Interested in hosting an art event or arranging an art group? Pop me an email. let's be in touch :)
Well so here I am, starting this site and so grateful to the people who have supported me to getting to this point.
I want to take you along on my journey of art. I will revisit mediums I love and try some new ones too. I will hop in on felting, sequin art sets, painting and more- but most important is the time of year and the hashkofa that brings me to each stage of my journey.
I open this website with graphite gedolim portraits.
It is a medium so genuine in nature. Bold and refined.
My first portrait that jolted me to open this series was my portrait of Rav Pesach Eliyohu Falk ztkl.
He was a gadol who eternally left a yearning of growth, clarity and beauty of Hash-ms Torah in my Home and throughout my upbringing.
Introducing 'Freedman-Castel' to the wider public Chanukah time, this was a no brainer. Our gedolim are what keep us on the straight and narrow. They guide us and they help us connect. May we have the zechus to always see the emes in what they taught/teach and grow closer to Hash-m each and every day- in their footsteps.
