Our Gedolim are Divine Links to Hashem in a Physical World
A gadol and our link to the Creator.
A gadol is someone who is able to lead through difficulties–someone who impacts his followers guiding them through life's tribulations.. Through hardships they help us stand strong. We say ‘Hashem sifosei tiftach ufi yagid tehilosecha’ ‘Hashem open our mouths to sing you words of praise’ Hashem is the one that allows us to open our lips and for the correct words to pour forth. He is the one that allows our leaders to give us Nechama, support and direction in life.
He does not wish to leave us - His young children, alone without support.
We live a physical life in this world. We have hearts and emotions, fears concerns and challenges. Hashem created us like this and will never leaves us alone in a world of challenges. He sends us messengers (our gedolim/mentors who guide and support us) as a physical expression of His abundant support in a physical world.
Moshe - Our First and Greatest Leader
Moshe Rabbeinu was the first and greatest leader of all time-a shepherd
He tended to his sheep yet this quality Hashem gave him enabled him to eventually lead and shepherd all of Klal Yisroel. With Moshes speech impediment however, how could he turn to a congregation and lead them as they form the Jewish nation? Surely a leader is he who can speak and influence his congregation?
A leader with a speech impediment means he truly supports the nation it can’t be said that he is brain washing through verbal persuasion nor that it his verbal power that leads to his success. His success is clearly only because Hashem has chosen that he should successfully be our mentor and leader.
We are Never Alone!
Hashem wants us to have a leader. He showers us with brocha through our leaders, and yes some gedolim have a tremendous koach in their dibur, but Hashem shows us through Moshe that He is the one directly holding our hand through our gedolim. It isn’t Moshes clear speech that was a figure of support for us, but rather the emesdik nature and the purity of Torah that shone from Hashem and through Moshe that will made Moshe a successful leader.
Hashem has given us great leaders whom give us a tremendous amount of chizuk. We must always understand that although they may have power in their speech, we are not connecting to their speech, we are connecting to HKBH through them. For He is guiding us and holding our hand, allowing us to hear messages that we need to hear to get us through each stage.
